You Will Need (5 things)

  • magazines or Paper colored
  • Wire
  • for 2 earrings Wire
  • A Few Bead(s)
  • Glue

Steps (7 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

Cut strips of paper in any length and width that you like.

The paper I have used is the colored section from our local newspaper. The paper is heavier and shinier than newsprint.

Other papers to use would be magazine, art magazine, wall paper, anything you like the color and print.

  2. 2

I used a small screw drive to get my tube started in a nice roll.

  3. 3

As you roll, tighten the tube by pulling on the end to make it roll more tightly.

When it is the size you like, tear or cut it and you are ready to glue the edge.

  4. 4

A torn edge looks better than a cut edge when you are ready to glue the end. I place a small amount of white glue on the torn edge and smooth the edge down. The edge disappears and you have a tube.

It dries quickly so you may continue.

  5. 5

    To assemble: Use your imagination.
For these, I cute 2 small card squares and put a hole in the middle.

I threaded a small brass bead, then the square, and then put the wire through my tube. I then put another square, bead and made a loop.

You can leave the tube plain or add other elements. I enhanced my beads with a gold felt paint pen.

Here is the pair that I just made.

Below is another example of my tubes recycled earrings.

    More examples.

These are longer and only have brass beads. I can think of a lot of variations that would be fun!

    Happy Crafting.
