You Will Need (12 things)

  • 1/2 tbsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp ground Cinnamon (Optional)
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups Fresh Blackberries
  • Citrus Zester Or Small Grater
  • 1/2 cup Melted Butter
  • Glass Oven Safe Pan
  • Whisk , Wooden Spoon, Rubber Spatula, Etc...
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 Lemon

Steps (7 steps, 100 minutes)

  1. 1

First, you are going to need to pick your fresh blackberries. I had a blackberry bush in my backyard so that made it simple. You will need 2 1/2 cups of fresh blackberries.

  2. 2

Next, gather your ingredients and preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.

  3. 3

In a bowl, stir the blackberries and the sugar together. Let this mixture sit for about 20 minutes

  4. 4

Grate some lemon zest into your blackberry mixture and squeeze in some lemon juice.

I also added a tablespoon of ground cinnamon to add more flavor. (This is optional)

  5. 5

In a second bowl, stir the flour, baking powder, salt, milk and butter together. Spread this mixture in an 8x8 inch glass baking dish.

  6. 6

Carefully spoon the blackberry mixture on top of the batter.

  7. 7

Bake for 45-55 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
