nice blackberry and apple jam which can be sold with a profit. i get apples free of our apple tree and free blackberries off a bush by our house. It only costs me £2 for a big bag of sugar which is enough for this batch. This makes about 7 large jars of jam which i sell out side my house on a stand for £2 each so deducting the cost of the sugar. i make £12 PROFIT from every batch i make! It's farley easy money as everyone loves buying homemade jam!

Instructions

  1. Small blackberrys 1314373298

mesure out 3lb's of blackberries and put them into a LARGE cooking pot.

  2. Small peeled apple 1314372551

peel 3.5lb's of apples. It doesn't matter about what type of apples you use because the sugar will sweeten them anyway.

  3. Small chopped apples 1314372682

Core and chop the apples into small peices.

  4. Small blackberrys and apples and water in pan 1314372669

Add the apples into the pan with the blackberries. Also add 1 pint of water to the pan. And boil.

  5. Small boiled fruit 1314372731

Boil the fruit until it is very soft.

  6. Small adding sugar 1314372767

Turn the hob off and pour in the 4lb of sugar. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. Then turn the hob back on full and boil again.

  7. Small setting bowl 1314372907

Boil in the pan until it gets thicker. To test when the jam is done spoon a bit of jam into a small jam and allow to cool. Once cool enough run your finger through and if the jam doesn't meet again it is ready to pot up.

  8. Small finished jam in pan 1314372998

remove the cooking pot from the hob and set on a hard surface.

  9. Small photo0068 1314373081

carefully pot up the jam into the jars and be carful not to spill it on the outside of the jar. And add the lid while it is still hot. (i use a ladle and ladle it into a funnel so it wont make a mess.) Also as the lid is put on while it is hot the little poppy thing on top of the lid goes in and is air tight while it cools and it will keep for over a year and wont go bad or mouldy.

  10. Small finished jam with label 1314373248

If you want you can make a little loth lid and make a label ad sell it outside your house like me.
