I use an old shoe box and its lid to create a divided box.
First, plan how your box should look like and try to match lid's lengh or width (without cutting yet) to your box.
With a ruler divide box'es lid into suitable pieces. In my case - 3 dividers. I used lid's sides to attach parts of lid to the box. I glued it and hold with a paperclip for glue to dry. Do the same thing with other partitions.
Take fabric - i had and ornament fabric. Insides go first. I must admit i cut pieces of fabric freely - they should be larger than your partition (each partition - one piece of fabric) and it has to cover the bottom fully. Glue the edges to proper edges of the box.
Sorry for this ugly drawing but this shows pretty much what i did - matching the lid and the fabric cut into shape of a cross and glued at the edges. remember to fold the fabric and then glue - your work will much more easthetic.
Let the glue dry. Voila!
