Inspired by the tattoos Biffy Clyro have inked for each of their albums, I decided to make a tattoo necklace of my favourite design.
Inspired by the tattoos Biffy Clyro have inked for each of their albums, I decided to make a tattoo necklace of my favourite design.
Start by tracing your favourite Biffy album or tattoo onto tracing paper. Because we'll be shrinking down our design, this needs to be roughly three times larger than the size you'd like the finished necklace.
Cut out your pieces. For a nice necklace, I suggest one large focal tattoo design and then two or more smaller symmetrical designs for either side.
Adapt your designs to include loops or holes where you can string the necklace cord through.
Stick your template to the shrink plastic using repositionable spray mount and cut around the outlines.
You might want to use a cutting knife for really ornate designs but be careful not to make your necklace too delicate or it'll break easily.
Cut out the side pieces, playing around until you're happy with your design. Make sure each has a hole at either side so you can string them.
Shrink down in an oven until flat and press under a book until cool.
String the necklace pieces together using transparent beading thread.
Feel free to embellish with gems and other decorations.
Attach to a clasp and it's ready to wear!
