I first had this idea when i was making autumn rae's bird decals, which can be found here (this is my version) The mini birds are a lot of fun to cut out! My finished version was very girly, but you can use any colours you like!

My finished version was very girly, but you can use any colours you like!
Google "bird flying", and download the thumbnails. Open them and adjust the size of the photo so that the bird will be the right size for your bookmark. Then put a piece of paper up against the screen, so that the first bird is in the top left corner. Gently trace around the bird. TIP: try adjusting the colour settings on your screen as well, to make it brighter or more contrasting so you can see the bird better through the paper.
Repeat, going across the paper, until you have enough birds.
Then put the piece of paper on a cutting mat, folding it around if necessary.
Put a layer of tissue paper on top of the white paper, and tape it down. Then cut out each bird carefully with a craft knife. Keep in mind that the tissue paper rips really easily!
Once you have cut each bird out, you may want to put another piece of tissue paper and do some again, because i found that quite a few tore in two, or that i wanted more of the same.
Now cut a piece of paper to the size you want your bookmark to be.
Arrange the birds on the bookmark before sticking down to check the layout works.
pick up a bird, and squeeze glitter glue on the back of the bird.
Place it face up (so the glue faces the white paper) and stick it down. You may want to then clear up any extra glue around the bird. Repeat until all the birds are stuck down.
Measure out the size you want the patterned paper to be, and cut it out.
Stick the top piece of paper onto the background paper, and you're done!
