For this top, the original collar and top two buttons are removed (though the collar stand remains) to create lapels. The cut sleeves and collar portions are then repurposed to create a playful big bow, which is actually a brooch that can be detached.

You Will Need (2 things)

  • Flannel Shirt
  • Brooch pin back

Steps (5 steps, 60 minutes)

    Cut the sleeves, bodice and collar as specified.

    Remove the top two buttons. Determine how much you want to fold open, then stitch lapels to bodice.

    Fold over sleeve edge twice and sew. If the sleeve opening is too wide, overlap the sleeve under the arm and stitch.

    If you shortened the length, fold over edge twice and hem.

    Make the bow with the cut-off collar and left and right sleeves. Attach brooch pin back.
