I made this for my friend's baby's room. She doesn't really have anything that showed it was a baby's room... other then the crib of course. And I thought something pretty and sparkly would be just the thing for her rooms bare walls. It was pretty easy to make. I bought the butterfly at the local Dollar Store, along with a few bags of rhinestones and a thing of paint. I spray painted the butterfly black, then painted the 'spots' of the wings a rich purple color, allowing for drying times of course. Then I paint the ends of the wings black, then covered them in black glitter. I used the paint like a glue, that way there would be no funny white glue spots. Then I painted the middle part white and then covered that part in white glitter. After the whole thing was dry, I laid the rhinestones out where I wanted them, then I glued them down. I glued little bells to the tops of the antennas, and then tied a few to some fishing line, and then glued those to the bottom of the butterfly. And there you go. Something shiny for the baby to play with. ... I don't really recommend letting a baby play with it. Tiny eatable parts and all.
