This project is real simple but takes a lot of time. Most of the time can be spent in front of the television or in the car. This type of beaded curtain isn't very private but it is a great way to indicate a new room. I use it to separate the Employees-Only Area from the retail floor.

Description

This project is real simple but takes a lot of time. Most of the time can be spent in front of the television or in the car. This type of beaded curtain isn't very private but it is a great way to indicate a new room. I use it to separate the Employees-Only Area from the retail floor.

Instructions

  1. Pick up a load of paper clips, I mean, like 3,000 or so. Take measurements of how wide and high you want your curtain to be. The wood beam length should be the width of the doorway. The chains are the height of the curtain.

  2. Small 108631 2f2015 08 21 031040 20150425 104332

Now get a couple magazines and cut 1 inch wide, really long strips. Make A LOT!

  3. Small 108631 2f2015 08 21 034033 20150425 104402

Your paperclips should peak out on both sides of the paper strip.

Roll the strip around the paperclip until you reach the end. Dab some glue on the strip's end and press for a few seconds. Link a paper clip to that new bead and do the same thing, repeat until you reached your ideal length! *tip* To make it feel like its going faster, make half the beads and then link them with unwrapped paperclips to make your chains. After you link all the paperclips, wrap the rest of the paperclips.

If you wish to treat the wood (paint, apply a finish), do so now. Drill guide holes down the center 1/2 inch apart, all along one face. Be sure to drill down ~1/4 inch. All these holes are for the small eyelets. On the opposite face, drill 2 holes of equal distance to the edge. These will be where the big eyelet screws will go to hang the curtain.

I decided not to hang it from the ceiling. I found some extra wood and rested the curtains between 2 bookshelves.
