I was watching an older episode of Project Runway and saw a designer wearing a HUGE wrist pin cushion. I knew I had to make myself one. Since I adore Batman, I decided to make a Batman wrist pin cushion!
I was watching an older episode of Project Runway and saw a designer wearing a HUGE wrist pin cushion. I knew I had to make myself one. Since I adore Batman, I decided to make a Batman wrist pin cushion!
First you'll need to trace around the oval stencil. I left about a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Cut 2 ovals.
Now measure around the outside edge of the oval.
Add one inch to the above measurement, and make the width of the strip 2 inches. Cut this strip out. This will be the outside edge of the cushion. (My felt was too short to cut one continuous strip, so I divided my measurement in two and cut two strips.)
Trace one of the felt ovals onto the coffee lid. Cut.
Trace the Batman symbol onto the black felt. Cut it out.
Measure your wrist. Add two inches to the circumference measurement, and make the width 2 inches. Cut two of these. This will be your wrist cuff.
Pin the Batman symbol to one of the ovals, and stitch it down.
Pin the two wrist cuff pieces together, and edge stitch them together.
Stitch Velcro to the wrist cuff as pictured above.
Pin the non-Batman symbol oval to the outside edge piece. Stitch.
Pin the Batman symbol oval to the piece you just stitched, leaving an opening large enough to slip the plastic oval into the cushion. Stitch. Turn the cushion right side out.
Slip the plastic oval into the cushion. You may have to trim it down a bit to get it to fit properly inside.
Now stuff the cushion! Make sure it's firm.
Slip stitch the opening closed.
Use a hot glue gun to glue the pin cushion to the wrist cuff. And ta da! You're done!
