About
...my boyfriend's a batman fanatic, and we've looked for batman cookie jars before, but never wanted to pay the prices for one. i was bored, i had all the supplies on hand, and thought, what the heck!
**hard to place a time on this project, since i let it dry for days to be sure. the 2 hours I put are for the length of time to sculpt it and paint a few coats on it.

- Acrylic Paint

Steps (5 steps, 120 minutes)

1
Simple, glass jar with a screw on lid.

Have an image of the upper body of Batman, a butter knife, a bowl of water, and towels on hand.
Place a chunk of clay on the lid of the cookie jar. Using the image as a reference guide, scuplt clay accordingly.
Wet your fingers in the water to smooth edges, bumps.

Use butter knife to carve out eyes, nose, jawline, and details of the cowl.
Watch for the head to start tilting, or sliding, depending on how wet the clay is. If you encounter too much movement, let the clay dry more and then re-adjust the head.

Use the butter knife to carve "ripples" in the cape.
Cut away at any extra unwanted clay around the base of the bust.
***The picture shows the area around the bust encased in clay. DON'T do that. It dried up and crumbled apart because it was too thin.

Once dry, paint it.
I free-handed the batman symbol, but you can always print out the batman symbol and mod podge it to the jar.
I let the bust dry for 3 days before I sealed it with 2 coats of mod podge, and affixed it to the lid using rubber cement.
