I was playing around with an old bass string (my friend plays the bass and she donated some old strings for my entertainment)and I made an intricate design that I really liked. The knots are called Josephine knots, by the way. After securing the position using some 26 gauge wire I had lying around, I decided it would work as a nice bookmark. Admittedly, thinner string (such as from a violin) would work better, but bass strings are fine too.
