This basic technique is very useful for making simple bracelets, adding extensions to bracelets, and making all sorts of other rubber band jewellery designs. It can be done using a hook or a loom. Follow these instructions for the basic looping technique using a hook. You will need several rubber bands in green, orange and hot pink.
To begin, fold a green rubber band over the hook so it is doubled.
Attach an S-clip to the middle of the band.
The band will now sit securely on the hook without having to be held steady.
Next, take an orange band and loop it over the hook.
Twist the orange band slightly to prevent it coming off the hook.
Slide it through the green band, keeping hold of the other end with your finger and thumb.
Pull up the other end of the orange band to meet the hook.
Place the left loop of the orange band over the hook.
Now loop a hot pink band with the hook and pull it through the orange band, as before.
Continue looping with your chosen colour scheme until the design is the correct length.
Transfer the two loops on the hook carefully onto the other side of the S-clip.
The looped design is now complete and secured by the clip.
