A basic amigurumi human base for you to edit into your own characters. A basic amigurumi human base for you to edit into your own characters. Instructions

  1. The Essentials: Hook: 2mm (to make the size shown which is about 5?-6? tall. Bigger hook, bigger body). Wool: DK in chosen skin tone; scrap DK/ embroidery thread in eye colour; black embroidery thread for nose/ mouth. Terms: Sc: Single Crochet INC: Increase (2sc in one stitch) DEC: Decrease (sc two stitches together) The Basic Amigurumi Human Base is crocheted in continuous rounds.

    Head Ch2/ magic circle Round 1: 6sc into 2nd ch from hook/ centre of magic circle [6] Round 2: INC around [12] Round 3: {1sc, INC} repeat around [18] Round 4: {2sc, INC} repeat around [24] Round 5: {3sc, INC} repeat around [30] Round 6: {4sc, INC} repeat around [36] Round 7: {5sc, INC} repeat around [42] Round 8: {6sc, INC} repeat around [48] Round 9 – 13: Sc around [48] Round 14: {6sc, DEC} repeat around [42] Round 15: {5sc, DEC} repeat around [36] Round 16: {4sc, DEC} repeat around [30] Round 17: {3sc, DEC} repeat around [24] Round 18: {2sc, DEC} repeat around [18] Stuff Round 19: {1sc, DEC} repeat around [12] Round 20: DEC around [6] Finish off and weave in tail.

    Arms (x2) Ch2/ magic circle Round 1: 4sc in 2nd chain from hook/ centre of magic ring [4] Round 2: INC around [8] Round 3: {1sc, INC} repeat around [12] Round 4 – 6: Sc around [12] Round 7: DEC around [6] Stuff hand Round 8 – 12: Sc around [6] Finish off and sew closed leaving long tail for sewing (no need to stuff the arm – it’ll keep its own shape).

    Sew your arms on where the body meets the head.

    Legs (x2) Ch7 Round 1: 6sc starting in second ch from hook. Turn round and 6sc down the other side of the ch. [12] (This will create a long oval round of 12sc) Round 2: {1sc, INC} repeat around [18] Round 3: {2sc, INC} repeat around [24] Round 4 – 5: Sc around [24] Round 5: DEC x4, Sc x8, DEC x4 [16] Round 6: DEC x3, Sc x4, DEC x3 [10] Round 7: {1sc, DEC} repeat x3, 1sc [7] Stuff foot Round 8 – 10: Sc around [7] Finish off and sew closed leaving long tail for sewing (no need to stuff the leg– it’ll keep its own shape).

    Sew the legs to the body in a sat down position.

    Once you’ve got your body assembled, embroider on your face. I used DK wool for the eyes, but use your favourite method – felt, safety eyes, whatever. Make it your own.
