This was a banana cake recipe I found here: http://epicureasia.com/food/get-caked-away/ For those who don't know, Gula Melaka is also known as Palm Sugar and its very popular in South East Asia for deserts and cooking. Its fragrant, sticky yet not too sweet, like an Asian equivalent of toffee. You can replace this with molasses or any dark sugar. I think a dash of vanilla is added as I felt the cake lacked OOMPH.
