Here it is!!! The recipe is an old southern favorite. Cream together 1/4 cup of shortening and 1/2 cup of sugar. Mix 2 cups of flour, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. of baking powder, 1/4 tsp. of salt together. Mix 1 egg, 1 tsp of vanilla and 2/3 cup of mashed bananas. Then add the banana mixture to the creamed shortening and sugar, blend. Next, pour some of the dry mix into the wet mix, pour in some milk a little at a time while adding the dry mix (1/2 cup of milk). If desired, add nuts or chocolate chips or both! You can flour the nuts before adding them, too. Pour into a greased, floured bread pan. Bake at 350* for 1 hour. I like to make little loaves, this makes two, bake for a little less time.
