About

I got a little old book to make figures out of fimo.
And I thought it was perfect to try the little deer on a cupcake.
You can use white fondant (sugar paste/gum paster I guess?) and colour it yourself, or buy pre-cloured stuff.

As you're making the deer, but the fondant doesnt stick to each other you can wet it with a bit of water to make it stick better.

PS: sorry for the crappy illustrations, Paint isn't my best friend and I forgot to take pics.

You Will Need (2 things)

  • Cupcake(s)
  • Food Pencil

Steps (11 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

For this project you need several colours fondant.

-Red/brown (for the body so quite a lot).
-Caramel (for the head and inside of the ears).
-White (for the dots, nose, inside of the ears).
    -Black (for the nose).
-Soft pink (for the inside of the ears).
    -Green (for the ground).

  2. 2

Take the red/brown fondant and roll it till it's egg-shaped.
Then press it onto the plate so it's flat on one side.

  3. 3

Now take a small piece of the red/brown fondant and roll it into a little ball.
Then put a bit more pressure on one side so it looks as in the picture.
It will become the thigh and the leg of the deer.

  4. 4

Pull up the thigh and press it a bit forward onto the legg.

  5. 5

Press the leg against the body.
And put white dots on the top of the body.

  6. 6

Now take the caramel fondant and roll a ball again.
But this time your shape it the seat of a bike.

  7. 7

Now roll out a piece of red brown fondant till it's flat.
Cut out the shape of the seat of a bike and lay it over the head.
Cover the back of the head aswell.

  8. 8

Put two little balls of the caramel fondant onto the head.
Cut out a small stripe in both of them and trace that line with black food colour (on a toothpick) or use the food pencil.
Now you've created the sleeping eyes.

For the nose you add a small dot of white and a small dot of black at the end of the nose.

  9. 9

To make the ear you cut out 2 oval shapes of the red-brown/pink and white fondant.
Each shape a bit smaller then the one before. (From red brown to pink to white).
Then squeeze both ends of the oval between your fingers to create the deer-ear shape and put them onto the head of the dear.

  10. 10

Cut out a tiny red brown triangle and a bigger white triangle.
Put the onto each other, this is the tail, so press it onto the body.

  11. 11

Then you can roll out the green fondant to cut out a circle for the grass.
Place it onto the cupcake and put Bambi onto it aswell.
    Tàdáá!
