Who doesn't need a pair of baboon shorts? These can be worn to sleep in or out and about :) I made the tail detachable so if it gets annoying you can simply unbutton it I forgot to take pictures of the process but hopefully this explanation will be clear enough. Let me know if you have any questions!

Mark the length you want your shorts to be, and add about two inches. Cut the sweatpants and hem them so they wont curl. Save the extra fabric because we will use it later for the tail
Trace the shape of baboon butt that you want onto a piece of paper. Trace another pattern less than an inch smaller than the first. The bigger pattern will be for the blue fabric, and the smaller pattern will be for the red fabric. I used old t-shirts for the fabric so that it wouldn't fray.
Trace the pattern onto the fabric, and cut it out. Pin the blue piece of fabric onto the seat of the pants and sew it on.
Once the blue piece is sewn on, pin the red piece in the center and sew it on around the edges. I don't have the pattern anymore but here is a close up of the shape I used.
for the tail, we will use the extra fabric from the sweatpants. Cut a strip, about 4 inches wides and 14 inches long. Fold the strip in half lengthwise with the inside facing out, and sew down the long edge. Then sew one of the ends and flip the tail right-side out. Sew the other short end shut and it should look something like this
Next, sew a button at the top of the tail. You can either sew this directly onto the back of the shorts at the waist line, or if you want the tail to be detachable, sew a ribbon in a loop (like in the picture) so that the button can fasten onto that.
You're all done! Now go show off your baboon bootay!
