I bought some fall-ish daisy pomps and a mini pumpkin from work (I work in wholesale flowers) and wanted a nice way to display them. I made this centerpiece for our dining table, as well as my tea-inspired arrangement (see below). Happy Autumn!
I bought some fall-ish daisy pomps and a mini pumpkin from work (I work in wholesale flowers) and wanted a nice way to display them. I made this centerpiece for our dining table, as well as my tea-inspired arrangement (see below). Happy Autumn!
For the Flower Arrangement: Start with a clean glass vase, a brown paper lunch bag, lace ribbon, scotch tape and scissors, and two coordinating bunches of daisy pomps. Wrap a strip of the brown paper around the vase and secure with tape. Cut a length of the lace ribbon, wrap around the paper and vase, and tape down. Fill the vase with clean water and flower food. Strip the foliage off the daisy pomps, and trim the ends into three different lengths. Put the tallest in the middle, the middle length around the outside of those, and the shortest near the rim of the vase.
For the Candle Holder: Layer brown rice, whole coriander, and raw oats in a glass tealight holder. Lightly press candle down in center of mixture while twisting VERY SLIGHTLY until the base of the candle is hidden in the mixture.
To Complete the Centerpiece: Place a folded handkerchief on the table or surface where you'll be displaying your centerpiece. Place the tallest object (in this case, the flower arrangement) in the back. Stack some vintage books. Place the mini pumpkin and candle holder on the books. Stand back and enjoy, but remember to change the way the pumpkin is sitting every few days to prevent it from settling and rotting (for example, the pumpkin is on its bottom in this picture, but a few days later I laid it on its side. A few days from now I'll put it on its other side. You get the picture).
