This is a project inspired by Audrey Kitching's Japanese Mobile Phone Cover. Though I loved the project I didn't have a phone I wanted to cover, but I did have an ugly old calculator. So I used that and am very, very pleased with the result!
This is a project inspired by Audrey Kitching's Japanese Mobile Phone Cover. Though I loved the project I didn't have a phone I wanted to cover, but I did have an ugly old calculator. So I used that and am very, very pleased with the result!
You need to take your calculator, as you can see mine definatly needs a new lease of life.
Gather together all your bits and bobs that you want to stick on it, these are important because you do need to attach these first.
You need your beads, I decided to go for a combination of blue, pink and purple - my favourite colours! My beads were very, very small though, which lead to extra frustration. But I was working with what I had, you could probably get some bigger ones that might help :).
Also, with it being a calculator not a phone, I worked out that there would be a problem. If I stuck lots of stuff on the bottom of it it wouldn't sit flat. So I used some identical heart beads, painted them, and used them as feet - problem solved.
Get sticking! You need to stick the bigger stuff first, then fill in with the little beads. Here's the back, see the "feet"?...
And here's the front!
Start filling in your little beads. This step is filled with frustration and burnt fingers, but is very worth it. Fill it in, avoiding buttons and screen until it's covered. Then do the same for the back.
You're done.
