Cut Out + Keep

Atlas Kusudama

Although not true origami in that this project needs scissors and glue, this 'medicine ball' is as complex as it is beautiful!

I found the instructions for this project online. By cutting an out-of-date atlas into 3x3 inch squares, I created 60 petals. I glued the petals together to create 12 flowers of 5 petals apiece, and finally glued the flowers together creating 2 halves of 6 flowers. Before finishing this project, I glued the lanyard and beads down the center, then united the 2 halves. The lanyard is a basic 4-string braid that I created out of extra embroidery floss.
