You Will Need (13 things)
- Wood squares
- Mod Podge Hard Coat
- Paint Brush
- Craft Glue
- 400 Sand Paper
- #0000 Steel Wool
- Vinyl protective pads
- Pre- Stain (optional)
- Wood Stain (optional)
- Acrylic Paint (optional)
- Cardstock (optional)
- Poster
- Postcards
Steps (6 steps, 240 minutes)
-
1
Finish the bottom side of the wood squares as desired with wood stain, acrylic paint, or a coordinating cardstock.
-
2
Trim your poster print or your postcards to size of the wooden squares, taking care not to trim away components you want to include.
-
3
Glue the art to one side of the wood, ensuring all sides and corners are thoroughly anchored. Use a bone folder to smooth if needed.
-
4
Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge Hard Coat to one face - painting in unidirectional strokes. Let dry at least 30 minutes. Repeat until you have 5 layers on each face, including the edges - don't leave any wood or paper exposed.
-
5
Use 400 grit sandpaper to wet sand the coasters. Polish with #0000 steel wool. You can repeat step 4 as needed until your coasters are as thick as desired.
-
6
Attach 4 vinyl protective pads at the corners on the bottom side of each coaster. Mod Podge Hard Coat suggests a curing time of 1 month - during this time, avoid wetting the coaster via spills or condensation drips. Enjoy!!
