About

A few weeks ago I made an apron for my sister Mirjam. This one is for my niece Anna. She can wear it when she's helping Mirjam baking her beautiful cakes.

You Will Need (3 things)

  • Fabric
  • Sewing Machine
  • ½ m Ribbon

Steps (14 steps, 240 minutes)

  1. 1

I didn't have a pattern so this one is based on the one that I made for my sister (for which I also didn't have a pattern). It shouldn't be too difficult to cut the right sizes if you base the measurements on clothting sizes. This one is a childrens size 98.

Cut out 3 pieces of fabric, slightly wider at the bottom. Sew them together.

  2. 2

Draw a pattern for the top front and cut it out twice. Sew them together on the top.

Cut out four pieces measering app. 55 cm. Sew them on the top as in the picture.

  3. 3

Cut out four pockets and sew them on each other. Leave an opening open and turn inside out.

  4. 4

Sew the pockets on the skirt.

  5. 5

Cut out two long strips of app. 180 x 6 cm (or sew smaller pieces together).

  6. 6

Sew a hem in the skirt and sew a ribbon on it if you like.

  7. 7

Sew a hem on both sides of the skirt too. I used a decorative seam.

  8. 8

Take the two really long pieces of fabric and sew them on each other with the top in between.

  9. 9

    Extra picture for step 8.

  10. 10

    Result for step 8.

  11. 11

Now it's time to sew the top and skirt together. Pin the skirt on the strip as shown in the picture. Make sure it's exactely in the middle (I made that mistake myself).

  12. 12

    Sew together.

  13. 13

Put the apron down and fold the second strip on over the first strip and the skirt.

  14. 14

Sew the two strips and the skirt together.

    Done!
