Thanks to some prodding by my bestie (Lisa R. Hazell) during one of our crafty weekends, she managed to talk me into doing altered birdhouses. I loved the results we both came out with...and I hope she posts hers too! For my house, I used inks to stain the wood, a roll of moss and raffia from the flower arrangement section of my craft store, as well as some wire wrapped in plant fibers. I also used gravel and grass terrain materials on the base (from the hobby/game shop) and a couple of flower embellishments for the top. These can really be decorated with anything, and after I prod Lisa into posting her birdhouse, you can see just how different they can look. :D
