Make fresh 'milk' anytime!

It's so easy to make alternatives to milk, you can use any time of nut you like, I chose almonds. Although this is really quick and easy to make, you need to remember to soak the nuts overnight.

You Will Need (3 things)

  • Nuts
  • Nut bag
  • Blender

Steps (5 steps, 60 minutes)

    Firstly you need to soak your nuts overnight. Make sure they are all completely covered with water. Once they have been soaked, Drain the water and return them to the container.

    Fill up a container with cold water. Then begin to blend the nuts. Slowly add the cold water to this mixture. You can add as much or as little water as you like depending on how thick you like your milk. I like creamy milk for my coffee, so I don't add as much. Make sure they are well blended.

    You will want to invest in a 'nut bag', which makes this process a lot easier. I got mine pretty cheaply on amazon. This bag is handy for anything that needs to be finely strained (such as tea and stuff as well) so I'm sure you will get your use out of it.

    Pour your mixture into the nut bag and strain it. It actually feel like you are milking the nuts at this stage! But you should get a lovely milk from it. You can always add more water at this stage if it is still to thick.

    You can add sweeteners or coco powder if you wish. However I would recommend trying it fresh with no additives. You'll be surprised at how nice it is.

    Please note, it doesn't keep as well as store bought alternative milks. On average mine lasts about a week. It is very obvious when it is off, as the consistency completely changes.
