An ordinary piece of paper right? Wrong! By holding this origami wonder to a light a heart is revealed. I came across this design years ago and though it is original and sweet so I'll share it with you lot. :D
An ordinary piece of paper right? Wrong! By holding this origami wonder to a light a heart is revealed. I came across this design years ago and though it is original and sweet so I'll share it with you lot. :D
Start with a square piece of paper- the thinner the better. In fact, I've used some tissue paper. It makes it a lil harder to maintain folds but the end result is more effective.
Fold upwards into a triangle and then crease the centre so...
...when you unfold you know where the middle of your square is.
Fold three corners into the centre. Then, fold the top corner about a third off the centre (compared to the smaller square just folded)
Right now to pleat the bottom triangle. Fold it to third the way down and...
fold it back up, a little bit off the bottom crease. It's important to get these three steps accurate or your heart will not be proportional.
You have just made what I'm gonna call the 'bottom triangle.' Now fold the bottom corners inwards, ensuring it just bends the edge of the bottom triangle. This is important. Also, make sure the top of the corners you have folded are straight.
Now turn the folds you have just made inside out so they go under the flap. If that is confusing just don't force the paper and it'll do it naturally. Just unfold it and prod it lol.
Do this both sides and it should end up like this. These are 'pockets' which you will need later.
Fold it upward in half.
This is what you get.
Fold the top corners in just a tiny bit. This keeps the shape of your heart.
Now fold all the corner inward into the pockets you made earlier. Note that it locks the shape.
Fold the top bit down into another pocket so it locks into shape too.
Voila! C'est fini! Not very interesting is it? However...
...hold it in the light and behold a heart. I think my lightshade makes it more impressive than it is but it's still cool. Enjoy!
