You could sell things on ebay, or etsy.com at first, to see if there is any interest. That's what I am doing.
Then you could branch out to craft faires and things like that :3

My mums 50th birthday is coming up, and I want to make her something really special.
I suffer with CFS, and she quit work a year ago to help care for me whilst i'm trying to recover, and keep up with my school work.
I want to make her something she can show off to her friends, not a joke present, because she's really supportive of my sewing and crafting.
I thought about making her an item of clothing, but I couldn't be sure of sizing, and at the moment she's favouring chunky knits to anything else, and I can't knit and don't have time to learn.
I can sew, and have a sewing machine, I can also make jewelry, but I'm not sure it would be much of a large, special present.
I do a lot of general crafting too, but I cant knit, crochet, needle felt or draw, paint etc.
She's also trying to minimize our home a bit, to I dont really want to make her something to frame or display.
This is so hard!
I was considering a bag, but I haven't found any patterns that I think challenge my skills and she'd like yet...
Does anyone have any ideas?
Much apprietiacted, thankyou :3
claire, my mum wants me to make her a french memo board too, where did you get the cork board? thats so cheap!
Since my last post, ive taken a plain tote bag (99p at hobbycraft), stencil painted a panda face onto it, and then sewn on buttons on the eyes and a box onto the hair.
ive also made a simple necklace for the same person. i bought the black chain at hobbycraft yesterday for £1.50 a metre, and bought the charm (on an ugly chain) in a charity shop for 99p i think, and already had the lobster clamp and jump rings.
I just a few days ago made a little red riding hood cape, but i havent taken pictures yet! :s
What i did was took a hooded jacket, and drew around the hood onto my fabric. Then i made the hood twice as big, and with a point at the back. I cut out two of those and sewed them together, as a hood is sewn.
For a cape i lay out flat on the fabric, with my shoulers on the top edge. Then i sat up without moving my legs and marked where i wanted the cape to end. Then i cut along that line.
Then i folded all edges but the top over twice, pined, ironed and sewed. This made neat edges.
Then i pinned the hood and cape together, nice shiny sides facing. The cape should be considerably bigger that the hood, so to get them equal lengths i pinned in some pleats (Well.. a lot of pleats) along the edge of the cape. Then a sewed that down.
After wards i handsitched some ribbon on to tie the cape on with :p
I'll try and get some photos and post up my project today or tommorow, so you can see some pictures.
This might be of some help to you:

lindsey i love the scrapbook idea, i've been considering making one for someone for a while, but something keeps holding me back...
Thought I would create a board where people could share what they're planning to make, and maybe get some ideas too!
I know I'm stuck on a few people.
So far I have made a vintage hat box for a friend. I found a plain hat box in hobbycraft, and have covered it with pretty papers in pink and blue, with lace and ribbon.
