@peg-r I just give up on it. Lol. It comes back. Just like reading. It helps to look at craft websites like this one. Sometimes you get inspired. Or maybe seeing something in a store that you want to make. Or, like my fall crown, not seeing what you want in the store (or it's too expensive).

@peg-r I have tons but I guess the most memorable (and most told) is when I went on a business trip with my Dad in San Antonio, TX. I had just turned 14 at the time and I was generally a well-behaved kid and since this was a business trip I thought I had to be on my best behavior. Lol. No. We had this dinner cruise on the river and since the river is not very wide the boats were just small motorboats with a table. It took, I think 3, boats to hold the crew. Well, sometime around the main course, we got bored (and the adults drunk) and someone threw a roll. From there it escalated and we had a major food fight going. Then, the boat in front of us pulled over and when we went under the bridge someone dumped a huge bucket of water on our dessert, which was cheesecake. So, to get back at them, we collected all our wet cheesecake into some napkins and rolled it. When we docked and another boat was still getting ready to unload, my Dad threw the cheesecake bomb and it exploded all over them. One of the people hit was the regional president. It was so funny. Luckily everyone had a good sense of humor and we all talk about it. Sorry, long story.
@peg-r I don't know those bands. I do listen to the Disturbed cover of Sound of Silence. It's amazing. I listen to random music. When I was kid I mostly listened to oldies (50s, 60s, 70s), classical music, musicals, and new age music. I was lame. Lol. Now I'm starting to like the pop from my youth. I love the music from my college years. Now I mostly find music I hear on TV or movies. Or by going to Nostalgia Machine (started a Bee Gees kick) and looking at the different years. I just love music.
@peg-r Thanks. I added more stars. I'm going to post my pics soon. I wore them today and my therapist loved them. Your living room/kitchen sounds awesome. I love bright colors. I have lived in apartments so I've never bothered to paint. My mom has a similar layout but left everything white because she says painting is a pain in the ass and she doesn't want to pay anyone. So she decorates with pictures and other decorations. Her house is pretty. My apartment looks like a bomb went off. Lol. I'm hoping the next one will look better.
@peg-r I have the opposite problem. Plenty of time but low motivation. I hope you get a chance to start making stuff again.
@peg-r They make for a nice day. The spa here gives you a cupcake on your birthday. I still ate cake later ;-) I try to make it nice no matter what.
How old is your son? That's nice you all celebrate together.
I am making lemon bars (they are cooling), I finished one galaxy shoe, and earlier today I made apple cheese biscuits. Yesterday I made Arizona skillet and it made a ton! I accidentally put too much macaroni and corn in it. Still tasty, though, and who doesn't love leftovers?
I could do it...I still have a black pair that I made and I haven't used them. https://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/fingerless-gloves-with-pearl-and-rose-corsage
They might be big, though.
I am looking to make a shirt out of knit but I don't have a serger. I read somewhere that you can do a stretch stitch (basically a zigzag) or do twin needles. Anyone done either one of these before? Which do you think is the best method? Any other advice?
What do you listen to when you craft? Today my cat turned on the Weeds soundtrack. Lol. I'm kind of digging the Flogging Molly song. I often get stuck on songs and listen to them on repeat. Usually I just craft to the TV. Sometimes my head is loud enough. Haha. (I've been known to have all night crafting sessions while manic.)
I started galaxy shoes and, of course, they didn't look like the tutorial. I persevered but I felt like giving up. I think I kind of like how the first shoe turned out. Working on the second shoe now. Sometimes I embrace it, sometimes I get frustrated and come back to it later, and sometimes I quit. For me, it depends on my mood, which is known to change very often sometimes :-P I always get in my mind how things should look. It can be hard to let go of that. So how do you cope? Here's a pic of my shoe (excuse the mess):
Hi,
My name is Melissa. I'm originally from Jacksonville, FL, moved to Troy, NY (Albany area) for college, stayed for grad school and some jobs, and then I moved down to Richmond, VA where I've been for the last 4 years. I love to travel. I've been to London, Paris, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, and 38 out of the 50 states (including Alaska). Oh and crafts :-P I'll pretty much try anything. I learned to knit on a trip to Maine when we went into a yarn store and my mom said, "you should learn to knit!" After much trial and error, and a little help from a guest at the inn, I learned to knit. After that, I taught myself how to crochet out of a magazine because I wanted to make a skirt in it. My in-laws bought me a sewing for my birthday my last year of grad school. I was supposed to be writing my thesis but I may have snuck over to the sewing machine a couple of times. My husband knows more about it than I do. I've been making jewelry since I was a kid. And of course, I learned to cook and bake with my mom and grandma. That's about it. What's your story?
Mine's June 9 and I like to do spa days or go home to FL.
@peg-r
I love pretty much anything. I knit, crochet, sew, make jewelry, cook, bake. I'm not a pro, but I have fun. Right now I'm trying galaxy shoes and batwing sleeve tunic. I hope they turn out! Are you working on anything?
I'm Melissa, I've been on a long hiatus. I am a physicist by trade but mental illness has me on disability so now I craft and volunteer. I used to be obsessed with this site and then suddenly I quit crafting. A very dark time, indeed. Now I am back to being obsessed and interested in crafting which is a positive. Looks like it's homemade Christmas again. Haha.
