I used to love lego. I used to save my pocket money up and every few months buy a bit more I also have a ted which I call Big Ted (after Big Ted in Playschool - childrens programme in the UK in the 70s and 80s). I also had quite a few toy cats, especially a little grey one I called Comfort who went everywhere with me. I also used to have a dolls house that I used to love making furniture for and decorating and I was always making clothes for my Sindy or Barbie. I was also a real horror as I was forever cutting the hair of my dolls so I didn't get many nice dolls. It was cool though as I was more of a tomboy. I also used to have a pot of buttons that I loved playing with - I think thats where my bead obsession has come from . I also loved anything tiny as one of my favourite books from childhood was the borrowers and the string family and I used to love the idea of little tiny people living in the house I was also one of the children that would play with the box rather than the toy at Christmas and birthdays. I used to like turning them into time machines and we used to have a big rug in our living room that I used to pretend was a magic carpet.

I don't think I like CO&K's changes with the boards as you only see the top 4 which can be a bit deceptive and you can that nothings been added to the ones your looking for. Anyhoo this is cool and I'm looking forward to saying goodbye to my teeth I love sweeties - I shall get on the case next week.
Cool. Would you be up for joining?
I just posted a new swap on the swap page for a t-shirt refashion. The idea is that you start the swap with your partner sending you a plain, t-shirt that fits but they don't wear, you then get 2 months to refashion it (still wearable) and then you send it back. The full details are on the swaps board if anyone is interested
This is such a great idea! If I was to make one I would put my butterfly book, some boiled sweets, one of my John Hegley poetry books, some pretty beads, some CDs and a hot chocolate sachet
I Bec - I would go with Michelles advice and see your GP? I suffered a really bad episode at uni and didn't and looking back I do regret it. Sometimes just talking to someone can be enough. If you want more info on depression check out these websites http://www.depressionalliance.org/ http://www.mind.org.uk/ and http://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/welcome/ they are all very good. I can also give you a site that allows you to do CBT online (Cognitive Behavioural therapy) and that is for Depression and Anxiety. Its a reputable site but they do recommend seeing your doctor first before starting so that you can get some support.

I had this idea for a swap where everyone starts the swap by sending their partner a plain t-shirt of theirs that they don't wear anymore but that still fits. Their partner then has 2 months to do something with this that makes it into something else they can wear. People could use any sort of t-shirt - long sleeved, short sleeved, vest tops etc. and they can be in any colour. I'm busy with 2 swaps till the end of this months so I was thinking of getting sign ups by the first week of Febuary. What do people think? Does it make sense as a swap? this will mean:
Sign ups by Wednesday 3rd February
Choose and send out T-shirts to be refashioned by 17th February
Send out refashioned T-shirts by 21st April 2010
Oh he wasn't saying I was happy he was being sarcastic - sorry that doesn't translate in writing so I should have been clearer :/
I hate it when people make assumptions that they can have a go if you don't smile 24-7. On Tuesday I went for a wonder round the market near my work and this bloke on one of the stall said "what are you looking so happy about?", another one I used to get when I was at school was 'smile it might never happen' or who died?'. I suffer with depression and these comments really get on my tits and sometimes they can really bring me down as it makes me feel that, although I thought I was doing really well and getting on with life people still aren't happy so whats the point.
I posted this ages and ages ago but wondered if any of the new CO&Kers have heard of this game or play it?
I love Sean Stewart too. You can't find his stuff over here in the UK but Canada will be no problem - the best one I think is Galvaston. He writes kind of sci fi/fantasy/futuristic stuff. He's hard to describe but I love his stuff.
This site is great for that. Its also oddly reassuring how many of us on here suffer with depression & anxiety - it makes you feel that your not going through it alone. I would try not to think to far ahead and about jobs and concentrate on being a mum. Also try not to loose site of transferable skills you are gaining from being a mum. I know that might sound daft but as your child grows and does things like attend playgroup or mother and toddler groups you may find you take on small roles and responsibilities and they are all valuable. Also just running a home and bringing up a child is a job in itself and exceptionally valuable - imagine you won tons of money and got to hire someone to wait on you and do everything. It might remind you of just how much you do. I'd also try and look for things that build your confidence. Also in the days of the internet you can earn cash without leaving home - if you can make things like jewellery or sew things maybe look at setting up an internet shop - dawanda is good as they take commission of your sales through the site rather than charge a standing fee for showing off your items like Etsy does. Etsy is however much better known so you'd get more exposure. Just a few thoughts
If you have a DS you should by the 100 Classics - its brilliant reading on your DS and I've read 5 books so far that way (2 Sherlock Holmes books, Dr Jeckyl & Mr Hyde, White Fang, The Secret Garden) and I'm just starting Call of the Wild.
I also made my own self portrait with all the things I like
