If you want a chuckle about the issue of stuff watch this Happy I think George Carlin hits the nail on the head - I've just unpacked from a week away and all this dirty washing seems to have appears to have hitched a ride! I am such a charity shop junkie tho, especially with clothes and have hoards of stuff - the iron pile was waving at us when we got home last night, and then there was the random piles of clean washing from the mountain I did before we went away and then there is 3 body bags full under the bed (I call vac packs body bags as thats what they remind me off)!!! I mainly buy stuff as for the cool fabric so I also have an enormous basket of fabric from cool sheets and remnents from the basket on the fabric stall near work.

Darklands by The Jesus & Marychain

    I'm going to the Darklands
To talk in rhyme with my chaotic soul
And as sure as life means nothing
And all things end in nothing
And heaven I think is too close to hell

    I wanna move
    I wanna go
    Oh I wanna go
de de de de de doooo

    Oh something won't let me
    Go to the place
    Where the Darklands are
    And I awake from dreams
To the scary world of screams
And heaven I think is too close to hell

    I wanna move
    I wanna go
    Oh I wanna go
de de de de da doooo
    rpt

    Take me to the dark
Oh god I get down on my knees
And I feel like I could die
    By the river of disease
And I feel like I'm dying
    And I'm dying
    I'm down on my knees
    Oh I'm down

    I wanna go
    I wanna stay
    Oh I wanna stay
de de de de da do
    rpt

I typed that while listening to it so I hope its right Happy It's one of my most favourite songs ever.

I always find I get hair dye on the bottom of the shelf over our bathroom sink and I could never work out how. Last night I cracked it! - I always find myself cleaning all the dye out of the sink when I first put it in but forget that my head is covered in it! What I seem to do is end up banging my head or resting it on the shelf while I reach round to get behind the taps. It always puzzled me how I always got it there so mystery solved Happy
I think I've mentioned this story before, but one of my funniest hair dying moments was when I was dying my hair blue. I went to bed with slightly wet hair and woke up with blue all over one side of my face. It looked like bruising! I got most of it off but not all so had to go round town the next day with it still under my eye and under my ear and a small patch on my cheek. It was really odd as people were doing that odd staring thing where they're clearly staring but if you look up they pretend they're not. I must have looked like I'd been in a fight or something.
Also last autumn my sister got married and I decided to top my roots up the day before. The dye I use now I'd never had a scalp dying experience with but, sods law, the night before my sisters wedding I had this massive orange band across my forehead! I got it off eventually with tons of aqueous cream on cotton wood but it seemed never ending.

I'm going to be away next week so I don't know if I'll be able to check the internet. I hope that doesn't slow things down. Let me know Martha if you hear nothing from Secret Squirrel - she's normally really good so maybe she's been away. Its that time of year. I don't mind dropping her a quick line when I get back though if you have no joy.

I'd be up for this so count me in. I'm going to be away all off next week and don't know if I'll have any internet access so don't be alarmed if I appear to have vanished. I am still about, I'm just in Germany with my feet up Happy

Cool ideas. I like the idea of iron on iterfacing to make the fabric stiffer. Also thanks for the ideas on hinges - I can imagine how it works but I think I'd have to make a hole so it didn't come off at the top. I also had a though about using screw in hooks, where the hook is big enough to slide the next cane through. I'm not sure if they'd go through the cane okay though, they may split it :/ I'm going to have a play around with your idea for hinges as I've got some smaller canes already that I can play with. Thanks Happy

A recent crafty superstar did this and I had to google it then. There are quite a few youtube tutorials and it looks so clever. Its like lace making - it looks like it requires a fair bit of coordination (which I'm sadly lacking) but it seems very low cost to start. They seem to use a bobbin to help keep the thread tort and I'm not sure if it needs to be a special tatting bobbin???

I've got a terrible knack for forgetting the dye is on and completely loosing track of time. My bf has got me using e.ggtimer.com now so I can set an alarm for when to when its time to wash it out.
In my goth days I used to stain my lips with food dye Happy

Riley i've added your name to the second American group list. To get the person address just click on the person's avatar and send a message to them letting them know that they are next after you in this swap and could they let you have their address. There isn't anyone after you at the mo tho as I'm still collecting names for the second group.

I work part time as a holistic massage therapist and usually see clients at home. I've recently gained some new clients outside of my area so I've bought myself a trolly for my couch and found a cheap space to work from. The only problem is that its upstairs at a shop - it barely gets used but the toilets are up there so the shop staff occasionally have to nip up.
My clients are cool with this and I'm mostly doing back massages so they would be mostly covered with towels.
I was however thinking I could make a screen to put up to give a bit more privacy. I don't drive so it would need to be cheap to make, very lightweight and easy to assemble.
So far I've been thinking of making one out of garden canes - you can buy really tall ones for about 99p for a set of 5. I could nail them to make 3 rectangles and cover them in lightweight fabric. I'm not sure how to hinge them though.....
Any thoughts? I know we have some very good, crafty brains on this site so I thought I'd see if anyone had any ideas. Thanks Happy
