How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

I found CO+K when I was looking online for a more crafty community. There are plenty that help you showcase your traditional arts, but not many that just focus on the more artisan craft style of work. I joined as I was interested in sewing and there were a lot of how-to's that I intended to have a go at. That was until I realised that I am no good at sewing!

What projects are you currently working on?

I have been making a few pieces for my upcoming wedding in June, zombie groom and bride, Pennywise the Clown - stuff like that! :D I seem to always be making flowers. I love them, they are so simple, easy and effective. I am making my bridesmaids wreaths as presents too so I am plodding through them, and a couple of baby items for another friend. When I have got that lot out of the way I will go back into making things from horror films I think!

What does your craft space look like?

Cluttered! I tend to just work wherever I am sitting, I need to be near the arm of the sofa so I can pile things up! I get upset at the state of my desk and try to keep it tidy but things I am using tend to pile up, like balls of wool, pieces of paper with patterns or ideas and everything else gets put on the desk! I even got myself a box for "current projects" it lasted about a week and that too resides on the desk! :D

Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?

I tend to use a size four hook. It gives me the right size for most of the playthings I make, it also lets me make people that are humanoid but not out of proportion, polyester fiber for stuffing. I have 5kgs of it lurking about the house, there's loads of it! It needs its own seat! The wool I use is normally double knit or chunky but I will turn my hand to anything if I end up with it.

What do you craft along to?

I am a huge fan of Blackmore's Night. The lyrics are quite fantasy based and it brings up some beautiful inspiration and ideas for me to try out.

Favorite Craft

Amigurumi. I love it. It de-stresses me and I find it just such fun to create something out of loops of wool. I like to make "odd" stuff, if it makes people go "why on earth would someone want to crochet *that*?" Then my work is done! :D I Such as villains from computer games and movies. The Human Centipede that I made received massive amounts of attention which really surprised me!

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?

I'd quite like to be able to make beautiful paper-cuttings or be able to sew and make toys. I am useless with a needle and thread - don't even start me on sewing machines! I also really need to master how to crochet clothing as that eludes me! I will carry on trying!

Who are your crafting heroes?

Lucy from Attic24 is a constant source of inspiration and pretty much helped me learn when I first started. Her pieces of work are so pretty and homely, it makes me happy.
Myshell from Mamma That Makes is amazing. I am lucky enough to know her through the internet and have been a friend for many years. She dedicates so much time to making free patterns for premature babies and for families who may have lost a baby. I am sure she has been a comfort to many families. She also makes amazing photography props. All round - she's just an amazing person.
