When did you first start sewing and how did you learn?
I started sewing probably around 6-7. My mom taught me the basic hand stitches like the blanket and running stitch and I...ran with it! Sorry for the bad pun. I used that basic knowledge to try to create anything from stuffed animals, to clothes for said stuffed animals, to really roughly made(but I wore them anyway) clothes and costumes for myself.
Can you remember the first thing you made?
First thing ever? Probably not, my mom was an artist and crafty too, so I was encouraged to let my creativity flow from a young age. One of the first things I do remember making was a 3D construction paper forest diorama with my mother probably when I was 4ish. I remember doodling out some of the animals and gluing down stalks of grass and that I was really impressed with my mom's drawing of a raccoon.
Do you have any favourite pattern designers or celebrity sewers?
I have a soft spot for Cynthia Rowley patterns! Every time Joann's has a 10 for $10 deal and those are included, you can bet I'm leaving with at least half CR designs.
What's your sewing room like and how do you organize your stash?
My office is very colorful, quirky, and cozy. I walk into it and I immediately feel inspired!
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to stitch along to?
I usually just throw my iPod on shuffle so really any music except Country or Classical.
I love to listen to The Bugle, and The Steve Austin Show podcasts!
TV wise, I usually like stuff that I've already seen in case I miss any plot points
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I love making things in general. I'm not picky, and my life goal is to learn how to make anything! I sew, crochet, knit(sorta), sculpt, jewelry-make, paint, draw, mix media, paper craft, woodwork(some wood burning/carving and basic carpentry), and that's just the stuff I have specific, encompassing names for.
When I'm not doing any of that I'm reading, exploring, playing with my house full of cats, or watching something.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
