Paper Umbrella

Crafting is my main hobby outside of work…there’s not a whole lot of time for much else! But when I have time I love cooking, inventing cocktails, playing music, traveling (or dreaming about traveling), exploring my city…Lately, I’ve gotten into doing more photography. I started a feature on my blog to help me learn more each week and push myself to improve. I love that it is becoming another creative outlet for me. I also spend a lot of time doing volunteer work for a local organization that works with immigrants and refugees…this kind of work is another (totally unrelated) passion of mine.

I really love to do a bit of everything…one week it will be sewing hair accessories, the next minute I will be really into spray-painting everything in sight. I especially love scrap booking and other paper crafts, but I don’t do it enough these days.

I’ve recently become pretty obsessed with the Lorde Pandora station, so that’s my go to for crafting sessions. I also really love the Camera Obscura and Beach House stations. If I’m doing a more time consuming project I like re-watching old episodes of “How I Met Your Mother.” It’s my favorite guilty pleasure sitcom, and I’ve watched so much of it that it doesn’t really require my full attention (key to avoiding poking/cutting/gluing together your fingers!).

I couldn’t tell you what the first thing I ever made was, but I was constantly creating as a kid. I remember painting masterpieces on my little easel at a young age, creating Papier Mâché masks, designing and sewing elaborate Halloween costumes with my mom…I was really lucky to have two very creative parents.

I love coming up with creative ways to recreate things on my wish list that I can’t afford – new throw pillows, jewelry, home décor, etc.

I was introduced to the world of blogging through A Beautiful Mess, so I’m always checking in there. I also love The Bandwife, DesignLoveFest, Honestly WTF, You Are My Fave...just to name a few. I am constantly clicking around the internet, pinning, and collecting inspiration and ideas everywhere I look.
