When did you first start knitting / crocheting and where did you learn?
I started to crochet just before Christmas 2010; we had relocated to Sussex the year before and I had given up my career in teaching to be a full-time mum. I was in desperate need to keep my brain active and so decided to learn a new skill. I decided on crochet and armed myself with a few good books and taught myself.
Can you remember the first thing you made?
Yes- a penguin toy for my son. He loved the Octonauts (children's tv prog) but there was no merchandise available, so I made him a set of the characters.
Who are your favourite pattern designers and celebrity knitters & crocheters?
Lucy from Attic24 blog- a constant source of beautiful crochet designs
Ana Paula Rimoli- amazing amigurumi patterns.
Debbie Stoller - her books taught me to crochet.
Erika Knight- beautiful, modern crochet designs. I love her styling.
What are your favourite things to stitch and do you have a favorite item you've made?
I really am a lazy crocheter. I love quick, easy makes, so toys are one of my favourite things to crochet.
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to stitch along to?
Totally depends on my mood. I love to listen with Radio 4's 'Woman's Hour' if I'm working in the morning. At other times I like to catch up with TV shows I've missed during the week. I love a gritty police series, or costume drama.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I enjoy making jewellery and enjoy selling at local craft fairs. I'm also learning to knit, which is a slow process as I'm so busy working on new crochet patterns!
Mostly, I enjoy spending time with my kids and the Mister. We enjoy being out and about exploring the beautiful countryside where we live.
