When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
7 years old and a cheese soufflé. I had never seen anything more beautiful in the oven. It was a beautifully caramelized and a perfectly risen creation until it fell, but my dad ate it anyway.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
Overstocked with cookware and bakeware. I have yet to own my dream kitchen but it will be spacious with a large island, double ovens, fully stocked pantry with all ingredients imaginable and sunlight pouring in.
I am constantly thinking ahead and multi-tasking, it's a blessing and a curse. There will be pasta boiling in a pot, casseroles baking in the oven, and a cake that I'll currently be frosting.
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Put away the cookbooks and cook from your heart. Relax, enjoy the sensory experience, use fresh ingredients, taste and taste again.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
Julia Child, Morimoto, Donna Hay, and Giada de Laurentiis. Can they do the cooking instead?
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I am obsessed with food photography and food styling. I also run an online macaron boutique called Macarons By Jane.
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I live by this quote from Julia Child, 'Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it'.
