About
Lip balm
I'm about to take off for a 10 day exercise with my job. I should be packing but of course I procrastinated by making some lipgloss and it's super easy to make too. All you need is beeswax lipbalm (make sure there's no petroleum jelly in it and make sure it has a flavour you like, of course), castor oil (yes the laxative) and finally a bit of lipstick in a deeper tint than you want, I used MAC's Deep Love for a nude brown shade.
-
Step 1
Take the lip balm out of the tube, cut it in pieces and place in microwave safe glass bowl (or shot glass) that you've cleaned with rubbing alcohol.
-
Step 2
Add a teaspoon of castor oil, melt the lipbalm in the microwave without boiling (that took me just under a minute). Then you mix in slivers of the lipstick with a little whisk (I used tooth picks), checking as you go along until you have the depth of colour you want.
-
Step 3
Pour the mix in the container of choice (I found tiny paint pots (12 for 3.95$ at the arts and craft store), place in a fridge to set for a few minutes and voilà. Done. I think I will bring this with me on the exercise. It will moisturize my lips and add a bit of colour without going against dress regulations.

Step 4
Notes:
The lip balm will only be good up to 6 months.
Next time, I will use a disposable dropper to transfer the mix into the container, it would then have a much smoother texture once cooled.
I saved the tube the lipbalm came in and I'll use it next time I make some gloss.
