Description

Create a statement bracelet or necklace using this easy sailor knot design, created with satin rope.

Instructions

  1. Small 104978 2f2014 10 19 132033 dsc 0489

This simple, nautical jewellery DIY requires few materials: satin rope, closures and a clasp. All the fixings are made with hot glue.

To create the simple sailors knot, I cut four lengths (twice the wrap of my wrist) of satin rope. With two lengths, I made a loop and crossed over the ends:

With the next two lengths, I started by laying the rope over the loop:

...bringing the ends under the bottom:

...back over to the centre, over the ends:

    ..and tucking under:

To finish, I tucked the top ends under the loop and then pulled all ends slowly to close the knot:

To ensure the knot didn't move, I secured everything in place with hot glue, including overlapping the ends to create an end of the design.

Trim where the four length meet and, if required, wrap the ends to prevent them from fraying and to help ensure they fit inside the bell closure. With hot glue, secure in place.

Add your findings if any extra length is required and your clasp to finish.
