Ostara/Spring Dragon

On flowered wings......

I never thought to add her here, but this dragon is my pride and joy! She was the prototype for a set that will sadly never be made :( I had a falling out with my collaborator who is actually the idealist behind the project. Anyways, Ostara is made from pony beads, E-beads, plastic flower beads, 24G wire, 26G (floral) wire, and 28G wire. She took me 12 hours of labor! This is how I spent New Year's Eve. The wings took the longest because of all the inner weaving on the flowers. This body style can take up to 6 hours alone because of the necessary secured weaving to keep the mock 3D loops from crumpling in and flattening the chest. The flowers were an experiment and I had to play with it, adding and removing, weaving and unweaving when needed. The head and toes were a chore because the leaf beads are made to sit sideways, and the bigger flowers are meant to be "center strung" so I had to set an additional size 15 seed bead down the center and string through that! Pain in the @$$ to complete but she was well worth it! She was an experiment, and next time I'll know better :P
