    Choose a holiday mouse motif and transfer the pattern onto one corner of the plain fabric, then embroider the designs using three strands of embroidery floss for each color. Stitch the mouse body gray and use colors of your choosing for the accessories. Use knot stitches for the eyes, satin stitch for the nose, and backstitch for everything else.

    Place the smaller fabric square on the corner of the larger fabric square with right sides together and with the embroidery toward the center. Sew a straight line across the smaller square, from corner to corner.

    Cut off the corner of the plain square, 1⁄4 inch (6 mm) from the line of stitching. Press the embroidered corner down along the seam.

    Fold and press the hem over twice, and pin a hem along all four edges, then sew around the cloth.
