Description

French knots and pistil stitches are similar, except for pistil stitches you take the needle through the fabric slightly further away from point A. These are used for stamens and as decorative fillers.

Instructions

  1. Small 2018 02 19 180613 screen%2bshot%2b2018 02 19%2bat%2b18.04.52

Bring the thread through the fabric at A. Holding the thread between your thumb and finger, wrap it around the needle two or three times.

  2. Small 2018 02 19 180603 screen%2bshot%2b2018 02 19%2bat%2b18.05.50

Insert the needle into the fabric at B, making sure it’s quite close to A. Push the needle through the fabric, carefully easing the knot off the needle. Pull the needle and remaining thread through the knot and fabric, then gently tug the thread to create a tight knot.
