These writer’s notebooks are the perfect tool for keeping track of your thoughts, ideas, and notes. They’re easy to personalize and even make a great gift. Here’s how to make them . . .

Instructions

You just need a few supplies that you can find at any crafting store.

  2. Small 2019 07 26 223700 writer notebook trace cover tea%2bcottage%2bmysteries

Using the pencil, trace the back of the notebook on to the back of one sheet of scrapbook paper. On the other sheet of paper, trace the front of the notebook on the back. It’s important not to trace the same side of the notebook on to each sheet because the corners of the composition book are rounded and the sheets won’t match up with the book when you apply them.

  3. Small 2019 07 26 223707 writer notebook cover tea%2bcottage%2bmysteries

Next, cut out the traced shapes. Trim a little off the straight edge so that the paper doesn’t cover the binding. Using the glue stick, cover the entire front cover of the notebook with glue and place the front piece of scrapbook paper on it. You may need to slide it a little to lay it just right, then press down especially at the edges and corners. Apply more glue as needed. Repeat the process on the back cover. Using the duct tape, cut a piece slightly longer than the notebook and, laying it lengthwise, cover the front binding with half the width of the tape. Wrap the tape around the binding covering the back portion. Trim the excess tape from the top and bottom.

  4. Small 2019 07 26 223714 writer notebook contents tea%2bcottage%2bmysteries

Now you’re ready to use your notebook! To make it easy to locate your notes, create a table of contents for yourself. Most composition notebooks contain 100 pages and you’ll need two pages, front and back, to create your table of contents. List number 1 through 98 on each line of the first two page of your notebook as pictured below.

Now label each page, front only, 1 through 98. When you write your ideas and thoughts on a page, simply go back to the table and contents and write the contents of that page next to the matching number. Now you’ll be able to find all of your notes quickly and easily without having to search every page.
