Manic Panic is kinda crappy. I have used a product by Paul Mitchel called Ink Works, but it's kind of expensive.

You mentioned using a hair dryer to set it... if you put the color... I've used a hair straightener which heats the color into the hair and really sets it well. If you have one of those, I'd try that next time!

I've heard about ManicPanic, but you can't buy it here... I'd guess it works just the same.

I tried this on my hair and it looks awesome! Approximately how long does Directions stay in before you need to redo it? Its the first time I've tried it

i haven't done this, but coontails are a snap. you just scotch tape off what you don't want dyed, which is the long tedious part because no one wants crooked stripes. then dye the untaped stripes, rinse, dry, and then if you want to dye what had been taped off, you can either tape off the first dyed portions or if the colors work together just slap it on there. one time i dyed the first set of stripes blue then dyed the second set pink and the pink washed over the blue and brought out a neat purple so they stood out in the blue solid section they were in. all depends on the look you're going for.

I've always wanted to do something like this with my hair but we don't get permanent hair dye in purples or blues here and its too expensive to order online.. =

I love Directions hair dye. I have shoulder-length hair and I can cover my whole head with 1/3 pot, and it comes out ridiculously vibrant.

The name is Directions. You can get them in scene shops, hairdresser stuff stores AND the interwebs. Just google untill you get a page where they're the cheapest.
