These easy to make coasters can be done in any design. I chose a coastal theme. Using plain tiles and stencils makes this a very simple project that adds lots of style.
Gather supplies. I purchased six 4 x 4 white tiles. These were .88 cents each at Home Depot, so it's definitely a budget friendly project.
Measure and cut a piece of burlap to fit onto the back side of the tile. Hot glue it in place. You can also use felt squares for this. You want to use something that will keep the tile from scratching furniture.
Choose your paint colors and stencils. I chose Cashew and Celery by Waverly and Deep Peach by Craft Smart. Paint each tile a solid color and allow it to dry completely.
Place stencil on tile. I used cling on stencils, but you can use any stencil. If it's not cling on, make sure to use painter's tape to secure onto the tile while you're painting. I used a few different coastal style stencils for these. After the paint has dried, spray each coaster with polycrylic finishing spray. This will protect the coaster from water marks or stains.
Allow the finishing spray to dry and enjoy! From start to finish, it took me under an hour to turn plain white tiles into coastal coasters. Such a simple and inexpensive project adds a great coastal touch to the decor of any room.
