This easy project from my booklet "Bungee Band Bracelets and More" requires no clasp or closure, just a simple length of cord – a quarter inch thick or more – and a set of matching hex nut caps or simple finials, which can be found in the lighting department of a hardware store. The result is a classic bangle which looks best when worn on both arms and in multiples, all the way up to your elbow if you dare. More is more!

Description

This easy project from my booklet "Bungee Band Bracelets and More" requires no clasp or closure, just a simple length of cord – a quarter inch thick or more – and a set of matching hex nut caps or simple finials, which can be found in the lighting department of a hardware store. The result is a classic bangle which looks best when worn on both arms and in multiples, all the way up to your elbow if you dare. More is more!

Instructions

  1. Small 106228 2f2014 12 11 153409 vera bungee bangle a

Cut a 31" length of cord. Wrap the cord with a piece of clear scotch tape before cutting to keep the fibers together. Gently singe both ends of the cord with a lighter to prevent fraying.

  2. Small 106228 2f2014 12 11 153515 vera bungee bangle b

Put a few drops of super glue into the finial or hex nut cap and slip over the end of the cord. Hold firmly in place for at least 30 seconds, then let dry for about 20 minutes. Do this for both ends.

  3. Small 106228 2f2014 12 11 153540 vera bungee bangle c

Wrap the cord around your cylindrical mold, securing with little dabs of hot glue between the cords as you go along. It's best to do this in small sections and hold the cords together for about 30 seconds, hot glue sets and dries pretty fast.

  4. Small 106228 2f2014 12 11 153607 vera bungee bangle d

Don't worry if your pieces ends up covered in glue threads, these can easily and safely be pulled off once your bangle is completely dry.
