San Kelly is a professional Illustrator residing in Decatur, Georgia. Her background is in commercial illustration and design, and she earned a BA in Illustration and Design from the Art Institute of Atlanta. Her art style is inspired by her interest in children’s literature, animation, vintage design and all things whimsical and cute. When San isn't drawing, she enjoys running, photography and chasing her baby girl, Autumn, and chihuahua, Pixie, around the house.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

I think so! My parents tell me as soon as I was able to hold a pencil I started drawing and was passionate about it.

How would you describe the style of your work?

Stylized, flat and simple.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

Most of my work is digital, so my pencil case is very minimal! I carry a non photo blue pencil, sharpener, big chunky eraser, eraser pens and a mechanical pencil.

Who is your favorite superhero?

I tend to be more of a villain fan, but my favorite hero would be Sailor Moon! She's classic girl power and so fun!

If you could have one super power what would it be?

I'd love to be able to fly!

Where do you look for inspiration?

Beautifully illustrated children's books along with Studio Ghibli and Disney animation! I also find shoujo and josei manga inspiring.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

Bruce Timm, Ai Yazawa, Hayao Miyazaki, and soooo many more. I could keep listing names but I'll stop there!
