Outline the snake in silver, using blanket stitch for the belly side and backstitch for the outer edge and head.
Use silver to create Xs of snake scales by filling the outer edge of the body with diagonal stitches in one direction, beginning at the spokes of the blanket stitch. Then cross over these with diagonal stitches in the other direction.
Beginning at the inside of the fire, chain stitch single rows of copper. Surround these with a row of golden chain stitch at the top. Finish the flames by surrounding in yellow chain stitch.
Add stars in ivory using French knots and star stitch. Add the snake eyes in ivory by making two detached chain stitches next to one another; top with a French knot in copper.
Create crosses in copper at the bottom with straight stitches tacked down at their intersection. Then make French knot dots surrounding the snake at top.
